Michael MacGarry Group Exhibition

Michael MacGarry is taking part in a group exhibition alongside artist Jacob van Schalkwyk at Gus Gallery at the University of Stellenbosch. Pentatonic Rubbernecking, is opening on the 2nd of February and will run until the 16th of February 2020. The Gallery of the University of Stellenbosch (GUS) is an off-campus extension of the Visual Arts Department. Their vision is to serve as a public multi-disciplinary community centre, creating a space for sharing of knowledge, ideas and inspiration.
MacGarry's work has been exhibited and screened internationally over the last decade - including institutions like the TATE Modern, Guggenheim Bilbao, VideoBrasil, Short Film Festival Oberhausen, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, Zeitz MOCAA and Rencontres de Bamako. MacGarry's practice is focused on researching narratives and histories of socio-economics, politics and objects within the context of Africa, principally in spaces where contemporary life is in a state of invention.
